The Barnsley Town Centre Races would not be possible without the help of volunteers.
We are always keen to recruit new volunteers, to help make our event a success. If you would like to volunteer, please see below for further information about the different roles available and contact us to tell us you're interested:
Circuit marshalls line the race circuit and provide assistance to both riders and spectators. Marshalls also alert crossing points when the riders are approaching and alert race control of any incidents on the circuit or when medical assistance may be needed.
Crossing Point Marshall
Crossing Point Marshalls have responsibility for ensuring the safe crossing of spectators / pedestrians across the dedicated crossing points located around the circuit.
The Signing On Team are responsible for ensuring that all riders have the correct licence and for distributing race numbers and timing chips. The Signing On Team are based in the Head Quaters and provide other support to Race Control, as needed.
We have a variety of other roles, such as constructing advertising banners, liaising with VIPs and sponsors, undertaking gear checks, and managing the car park etc.
All volunteers receive a briefing session and pack prior to the event. No experience is necessary.
Equipment, such as hi-viz jackets, whistles and radios are also provided, where needed.
Volunteers are also provided with free food and drink during their time at the event.
